"New Year/New Beginnings"-January lst, 2006-8:31

Mood:

I do like the morning; I just don't like getting up. The problem is solved when
you stay up all-night.

I never liked New Years Eve. Coming from such a long line of party poopers and
just not being a party animal myself, I tend not to revel in the classic
fashion. My chosen career path is very anti new years. Think about it...

Hey, this is my first morning/opening shift ever. I can tell you right now,
we're not going to be busy with customers. Holiday
Sunday morning after New Years Eve...(sigh)It's probably going to be sheer
returns/batching. Which is alright. I understand why they got me in, but who
did they get to be the MOD?

Woohoo is the coffee strong this morning. I used the "real-stuff"
this morning and very little water. Even Dad is wincing. I'm alright. Mmmmm,
Apple. I've been neglecting breakfast lately. Mostly because when I get up it's
around dinner time. I've been tempted to use that protein whey powder I have
left over...but I never felt right using it, thinking it might have creatine or
some other pseudo steroid in it. It's just complicated amino acid chains...I
think...I'm not a chem major or anything...

Nothing from Saint...this is usually the time when I get worried about her well
being. Not this time... (sigh) I guess I should phone her...if she won't get
too angry. I remember I dropped in on her at work while I was out shopping. She
seemed pleasant but obviously wasn't too happy. She wouldn't hesitate to drop
in on me. Of course, it takes me a lot longer to get out to her mall then it takes
her to get to where I work...jeeze...Maybe I should phone today, when I get off
work...just to see what's up...I still have her Christmas present to give her.
At least we're still abiding by tradition.

Every week (or so) I'll "obsess" over an element of the story I'm prepping.
One week it was patrol vehicles. Another it was little known SWAT gear. Last
week I think it was something to do with organization/hierarchy. Today?
Forensic gear/Techniques. Luckily it has a lot of overlap with the paper I
wrote for Anthro. You should see all the kits they offer online...woo. I do
like gear...

Yeah, I'm done...

"Shattering"-January 2nd, 2005-1:56

Mood:

Note: When getting showboxes off high shelves, old deck chairs are not
stable surfaces. I'm glad I didn't crack my head against anything on the way
down. You'd think with all the warehouse experience I'd know the value of a
good ladder. Meh. Hey, colour me surprised: A lot of people rent movies in the
morning on New Years Day.

Remember way back when I said I would never, ever use Hi5 again? So what if I
lied and added Dani last week. That's not the issue. The issue is the absent
link to this site I have left in my "journal" within Hi5. Oops.
Personally, it can't do much damage. It doesn't mean I got made...I just broke
cover...which is worse...ha!

Space's syndicated Angel cycle ended tonight with "Not Fade Away."
Yeah, I've seen it 3 or 4 times and I still get all misty at the scene where
Wes dies in the faux Fred's arms. (sigh)...such a good scene. Of course it
would have been way better the first time if Bajnik didn't spoil it the next
day in acting. Asshole. How many times have I told that story? At least twice.
It is a good story.

One more shift this week then it's back to school a week tomorrow. Between now
and then I still have a few things to do. Haircut, I'll look into an Ipod and a
new wallet as I washed my old one. Other than that, bring on the spring!
Hoorawr!

"One of those days"-January 3rd, 2006

Mood:

No, I don't mean in the usual way. It was a good day. I timed the buses right,
Patricia was in when it came to getting a haircut...I remembered everything on
the list. The only down side is that every place I went to were out of Ipods.
That I can deal with.

I emailed Huey  and in true fashion her response was in minutes. She is
just as surprised as I am...the marks were posted moments after the test that
day in December. She'll be able to check saturday...so I'm guess I'm going to
have to wait it out...at least I addressed the issue.

I stopped in to work today and rented Star Wars Battlefront II...It's pretty
good, but I just have to get into it before I can truly enjoy it. Nothing more
satisfying than running through Echo Base as Vader...TAKE THAT YOU TAUNTAUN
BASTARD!!!

Hmmm...Done...I was going to rent a movie tonight, but Scrubs is back! Yay!

Speaking of that, Zach Braff is going out with Mandy Moore...awww, it's so cute!

"Paranoid/Perceptive"-Jan 05, 2005-11:37

Mood:

So, where to begin? I don't know if the beginning is an appropriate place to
start....

I caught the tail end of an MSN message from Saint who was just signing off. I
phoned her right away and she recanted an awful story about her Christmas
Break. Needless to say, there's going to be a lot to talk about when we meet on
tuesday. Personally, I'm not the person to ask in regards to that subject. She
just needs someone who will listen...

A week until the new semester starts...Thank God. I don't think I could take
any longer off...for various reasons. At least I have no 8 am classes this
semester. Sad to say, I had come to enjoy them since last
semester...well...tolerate them is more the word...A better term would be
"Not Hate"....

I've had to turn down two "external shifts" just because I can't get
out there...if anyone in house asks to cover a shift, I won't hesitate...nor
will I hesitate when it comes to the four nearby ones (even King's Cross).but
when it takes me 2 hours to get out there, I won't...I mean, that's just nuts.
Of course in classic fashion, I feel bad when I can't take a shift.

Plan, Plan, Plan...that's all I do. I should really just throw myself into a
scene and start writing. I know enough about everything I want to write about
to do it. Well...a couple more characters could do with some flushing out. You
know, not that much...but just a little more than a 2 sentence tag and a vague
idea of where I want them to go...I tend to do 1 page histories for the minor
and 2 page+ for the majors...

Yeah, I'm done...

"Feels Like Home"-January 6th, 2005-7:30

Mood:

I don't attempt to explain my sleeping patterns. That would require way too
many sleepless nights to figure out...

An integral part of the S.H.R.E.A.D program is The Ipod. I welcomed a
baby Nano into the family
yesterday, weighing in a healthy 1.5 oz. 2 gigs. I think I might be able to
call it "my" Ipod given enough time. Seriously, 500 songs is plenty
at any given time...

Because I spent that much money(add case + warranty) I'm covering a shift for
Angela tonight: 5-11. That's a very good shift to cover. All the action of a
friday night without the closing aspect. Even if I didn't buy the Ipod, I would
still cover her shift. It's what I do...

Writing is an odd thing. Don't ask me why I redesigned a Canadian SGC Team I found on an
RPG
Website
. No, you don't have to know what that means...I just thought it was
worth mentioning...

Questions I'm Trying to Answer:

1. Could Canada
divert enough funds to construct a BC303 Space
Vessel
?

2. How many guns/accessories could you cram into a Sprinter Van while still being able
to seat 4.5 people?

3. Could an RCMP Officer
simply quit and join a municipal force without retraining?(I've seen it go the
other way...)

Again, you don't have to know what this means...but if you do, some answers
would be appreciated...

Enough Links? I thought so...

"Backup"-January 7th, 2006-2:29

Mood:

Whoa fuck was it busy today...I guess after the hockey game last night the only
thing to do is rent movies...I've worked some busy shifts, but this one takes
the cake! Pyro asked me how I knew so many cops rented movies...um...they
showed departmental ID(Which we do take)? What? Being a Crim Major
automatically allows me to tell who's a cop and who's not by appearance?
Well...technically…

Anyway, Huey emailed me back and I did get an A(86%) in Policing. Of course
apparently I was one of the few marks that got missed as I ran into someone
tonight from Policing...she got an A- and I was shocked as she did well across
the board. Maybe she bombed the Mickey Mouse final...who knows? So I'll check
my final mark as soon as the system opens back up at 7...

Don't ask me why we're having an Inner Staff Christmas Party(The one in
December was the entire Area) next week...Apparently we are...including a
secret Santa. I find it hard to shop for people I know well (Saint notwithstanding)...but
for people I haven't known for more than...10 weeks? A little harder...I have
some basic fall back ideas...at least I got someone on the level...I'm going
this time!

I just saw one of the funniest things in MASH...remember when that tank crushes
Potter's Jeep? being a former Calvary man, he pulls out his M1911a1 and fires a
mercy shot into...the jeep's head...to put it out it’s misery…Also I saw that
Futurerama where Fry drinks 100 cups of coffee and stops time...You know I’ll
try it one day…how about tomorrow?!

Yeah...tired...done...I won't add more links...though I do enjoy it...

Edit: 7:05

Finally!!

Final Marks

Crim 2211: A

Anthro 1125:B+

Crim 1207: B

Psych 1200: B

English 1204: C

Better than usual...with a little more effort, I should do better next term...

"Sunshine and Puppies"-January 8th, 2005-7:04

Mood:

Paraphrases a wise woman's quote about working. Though I have a feeling she may
have gleamed it from Whedon...sunshine and puppies anyway...I do like my
job...I do not judge: I advise and dispense. I keep saying that I'll get away
from the till and work the floor, like I used to in training days....nope. I
always seem to get my fashionable shoes glued to those little mats and I don't
move for 5 hours. Oh well...still not as bad as that drunk guy way back in the
day...

So in classic fashion, no one can get this "Christmas Party"
organized...I was told a couple days ago that it was on tuesday and we were
getting another store to cover...I really hope they changed the date...because
I'm now working tuesday...hmmm...either way, I was told to expect a call
tomorrow to confirm thing...

Oh Boy...Poli Sci on monday. I can't wait!

Saint and I were going to hang tonight and we had it all planned (as well as we
plan)...but she called it off due to unexpected circumstances...

It's quite sad. I can't sleep for more than 2 hours at a time after 10pm...once
I pass 9am though, I can sleep...which isn't a good thing.

Yeah, I'm done...

"Lacking"-January 10th, 2006-8:52

Mood:

So far, I have fairly decent profs this semester...Though I have to have a talk
with the social psych prof as the course outline is so vague that I have very
little idea what's going on...(sigh) When it comes to other people in the
class, it's pretty much the same smattering of Crim Majors I've been with this
whole time.

Also getting my stuff back from my cut locker may be harder than I thought.
This one might not be the fault of the stupid student association...but I have
to say opening at 10:30 was downright insulting yesteday...

New goal for this year...introductions when talking to random people...You know
how sometimes you get to randomly chatting people up and never give you name?
I'm going to try to do that more often than not. Try to get rid of that whole
"No One Cares" garbage...

Well, look at how the time flies...I have to go...
