I'll say it again; the one thing "The Firm" takes too far is training. I've been told I have to do all those home phone things...it's not that bad. Actually it is, it's set up like a news program. A NEWS PROGRAM!

Work was work today...I'm a little sick(something similar to that pseudo-mono thing I had back in the Spring Semester.) I'm just tired and achy. Getting to work was the problem, but once I was there it was alright.

(sigh) Natalie Portman pictures on NataliePortman.com...yes, it looks likes she's picking her nose...but even that is cute...(sigh again)

I rented House Disc 1 and Tron. I also took the plunge and bought the Deluxe Fight Club. It makes me happy.

I work tomorrow morning(Canada Day!) and I also work with Drew on his last shift...which is cool.

Bad Boyfriend Day...Elizabeth's Grad and I'm nowhere to be seen. The gift I got her is more about her going to Kwantlen and less about Grad. Saint called me and panicked because she never confirmed Elizabeth's makeup appointed...god forbid how that went down...I've been working...so I simply do not know...Calling her tomorrow morning would be a bad idea...Even I had an Aftergrad hangover and I didn't drink, I was just up for 26 hours.

Other than that...It is Canada Day tomorrow...which is sweet...

"Years Young"-July 2nd, 2006-3:05

Mood:

Work was work...a large portion of it involved standing outside with a Canadian Flag Raver Hat...we had cake...which I did not partake in. Since you could get diabetes by simply looking at it. I swear by the gods I'm not buying anymore movies until the Original Star Wars Trilogy comes out on DVD...yes, Megan just justify owning...8 copies of the Trilogy on a few formats...but I can't...

Don't ask me what I'm doing up now. I have to get up for work in 6 hours.

Ever have those dreams that make no sense, but you retain a concept from the dream that you can't place and it bothers you? No? Only me...meh...

Staci keeps proving we have so much in common...she sends me various webcomics that I'm fully aware of. Dare I say it, Staci could be my female doppelganger...just a little more extreme...too bad I don't have a bizzaroworld ND counterpart like Katie did...it was a guy too!

What? where am I going with this? Nowhere really.

Considering I couldn't sleep last night, I chased wiki links and formalized my definition of geeks and nerds. Simply put a nerd is one who sacrifices social contact for academic greatness. Geeks are not socially awkward but are "obsessed" with a particular subject, whether the information is "useful." Nerds is usually used in a negative connotation. Geek is considered more positive. So we're all moviegeeks, dramageeks...etc. I’m still debating where “dork” lies…

Done? Done...

"Off Duty"-July 3rd, 2006-1:30

I'm going to go ahead and apologize for the incoherency of yesterdays entry. Of course I can't guarantee this'll win any awards.

The Lt. "relived me of duty" as I sort of (ran to the back and had a violent coughing fit)...I guess we have really thin walls in "The Firm." I was also told that I didn't have to come in this morning. At least I can rest for the next couple days. Sleep is the best medicine...but notice I haven't put the time up? I got home from work around 3(suppose to be 6) and went to bed...and I'm up now(Sigh). I guess it's all for the best, I can't do 5 days solid held together with caffeine, Tylenol and what limited willpower I can muster...for gosh sakes, I missed 2 weeks* of school over a similar condition and it takes a lot for me to miss class...

Oh, we had something promotion for the World Cup in the store(it was an in-house thing which I wasn't really informed about)...which finally explained why we had Argentinean flags underneath the counter. So I picked one up and started singing from Evita. The one thing I love about my co-workers(Well, The Lt. and Drew at least, Matt D would have done it too if he had been there) we all sang along and knew the words...DramaGeeks!

Yeah, that was random...and I apologize.

I'm going to bed....Grrr....Arrrgh

"Geek Squad"- July 4th, 2006 3:00

I rose from my sickbed today to run some tech support for Elizabeth's new baby Acer Lappy similar to the one I got. She also needed a D-link wireless router hooked up, which was easy because I use a D-link wireless modem. The thing that offended me? Her desktop: A HP rig so choked with Spyware that it takes 30 mins average to restart. I told her she should have gotten a bundle deal with a desktop. Most places can't go any lower on the Laptops, but they're more than willing to drop the price on a desktop if you're putting in that much money in the first place.

What didn't offend me? A 3 in 1 scanner/Printer(what else did it do?) she got for 80 bucks. It's a Canon PIXMA and I swear by Canon. (Sigh) I do have brand loyalty, which may or may not be a good thing. She called it a Geek Date and I was happy. I told her I'd drop by tomorrow to help her move music files from her desktop...I had to download a driver to prep it for my flashdrive...Ewww. I'm against HP Computers running Windows 98.

For a little side writing project I was working on, I need to know JD Salinger character names. Apparently there is an entire Glass family and Sergeant X in "From Esme with Love and Squalor" maybe be Seymour Glass from "BananaFish." Why didn't Rideout bring that one up? Why didn't I not figure it out and have the wiki tell me?! Who knows. I still have a month to read "Catcher in the Rye" before it's too late.

Hang on....(3:33)

Staci still seems to find Stargate/Firefly related Youtube stuff...love it...I could redirect it the way of a certain lonely girl, but I don't feel like it. Not like I owe her anything.  Maybe an on-campus wave and a meaningless conversation. Who knows?

Where did that come from?

WHOA NEW H*R TOON!

DONE!

I don't know. I did what I said I would as finished off Elizabeth's Lappy with file transfers. Now I never have to be near that horrid desktop PC again.

No, I'm not going to ask why she has a picture of her and The Beast near a "panty quilt". That's bringing out all kinds of jibblies. Nor why she has a floppy from "The Beast." A most cursed media format. Elizabeth does not need my reasons for blood vengeance(I'm on the list.) The reason I don't tell anybody anymore is because I told everyone(EVERYONE!!!) when it first happened. I even embellished and wrote a play which people took as canon.

No, I'm going to talk about what happened with Saint and the makeup job. Nope, uh uh. Never. A monumental cluster-fuck of the first order. Here's something to think about:

Hey Saint, if you wanted Elizabeth's number...ask!

Whatelse I'm I not going to talk about?

If I'm not working Friday, I'm heading downtown and going out for dinner with Elizabeth then see Pirates!

Done....

Hopeful-July 6th, 2006-2:21

Mood: Gah

Work was work. I keep telling the Lt. we need a midshift to cover the night. Not going to get one. The Guyz showed up and hung around for a while. I ran into a bunch of familiar people. That's not a story I want to get into now. All I'll say is that I should have told them why I was at Steel Magnolias at Seaquam...Ya'll know why. The title? It's naive to think we'll ever get out of a close on time...

Grrr...Argh. I should go to bed, but I won't. Instead I'll run that wireless training seminar on coffee. At least there's a Starbucks near the tower. Taking a page from dad's book: I'll be there really early. Really early. Of course I can waste time...that's what I'm good at. I'm also really good at getting up to go to Metro early in the morning. I did that for a month solid.

Oh

I'M NOT WORKING FRIDAY! I CAN SEE PIRATES WITH ELIZABETH DOWNTOWN! WOO!

Other than that, expect more griping tomorrow. These wireless things aren't that bad, they just make me hate my phone even more.

(More, because sleep is stupid...)

Don't ask me how I got to a Youtube Daily Show Interview of Natalie Portman(The V for Vendetta one.) Suddenly I have the image of Natalie Portman in a Starfleet Marine uniform(The green one, with the vest) and a Phaser Carbine...

on that random note I'm going to bed....

"Neon"-July7th, 2006-6:15

Mood: Gah

Three hours of sleep is still sleep. Don't ask me what I'm doing up this early.

Ok, one more Natalie Portman kick then I'll stop: I'll guess I'll have to remove the Natalie Portman looking character from that Vampire story. I'll replace her with "Mary" who is Scottish. There...done.

For reasons I can explain, I have to leave unnecessarily early to get to places. I caught a 7:04 bus to make a 42 minute trip for a nine O clock seminar. I can't complain because I met Elizabeth at the bus stop and we had a nice ride in, until I had to get off. We managed to set up what we're doing tonight. I thought it was cute(something worth writing about) Sharing the Ipod and holding hands. Pyro would call me a pussy, but that's slowly losing it's edge. If he gets a girlfriend, he'll be the same way. Notice I said if...

Despite it might not seem like it, I like going to these wireless things. Most of the time you get to meet other MovieGeeks and had a good ol' time.  Yes, "Wireless Data Essentials for Consumers" was weak-sauce. I expected much more. It was cool to watch TV on a cellphone(but you can't read the news ticker) and that fact you can download a version of Prince of Persia on your phone. Still, no high tech Ubisoft port can beat "Bejeweled". That game is crazy!

Despite getting there at quarter to, I spent my time enjoying a cup of coffee and a "Rise and Shine" Muffin from Starbucks. I was curious of what was in it so I inquired. Part of me thought the barrista was serious when she answered : "It's full of rise and shine goodness!" (Cough) It had carrots and bananas and cinnamon from what I could tell.

Also being in the video conference room of a 16th floor building with frosted glass doors is badass...

Done and Done....

My parents want me to rent the 3rd and 4th disks of House.

"EnVogue"-July 8th, 2006-12:44

Mood:

I'd call it a good day. Did you know House is only 3 disks? I could also get Annapolis to keep the Parentals occupied while I went out.

Thinking she'd be dressed "Professional" today, I showed up in the basic black Blazer (It's a Jacket...ok, a Jacket!) and my blue Stripe-PED shirt (Go to Homestar for Stripe-PED pants.)  Of course, it was Casual Friday. She was in Jeans. I was way too hot. I just don’t want a repeat of Saint + me and that damned Jazz Sake Bar…

Yeah, I was a little late, but at least I found her. That's most of the battle. Downtown looks all the same to me. No, our relationship wasn't started under false pretenses. So what if I didn't know Roger's last name from Rent? I never said I was a RentFan. I simply liked it.

We went to three different theatres to see Pirates. None of them had it. So just like seeing "Mean Girls" after "Troy" sold out with Saint, I saw "The Devil Wears Prada" after "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Chest" sold out...in THREE places.

I bought her a Virgin Prune's CD because I could.

Running out into the Lobby to refill our drink (Can you believe I drank Diet Coke tonight?) I ran into Omar and his parents inline for Pirates (I admire him to be able to go to movies with his parents.) Yeah, it's not too cool to say infront of the guyz I saw "Devil Wears Prada", but hey I win by default because of who I'm with.  I should drag the guyz out with Pyro and see "Superman Returns" before Mark yells at me. Or just...talks. Mark is pretty monotone in his delivery and I admire him for that.

I can only cry with Amy Acker cries.  Ah, Fredless. A weird episode because I saw the nice Burkles in season 5 and never ever believed they were ominous...ever. How can they be? They're The Burkles! Even I love em' likes pancakes!

I do like Anne Hathaway...whether or not she is nice and proper in Princess Diaries II(Only saw it for Callum Blue! GO MASON!) or "Going too fast" with Jake in the back of an old school car in Brokeback. "Devil Wears Prada" was a cute little movie with a fairly predictable ending with some ups...and little downs. Elizabeth loved it because of 2 simple things:

1) Tracie Thoms from the Rent movie was in it...

2) During a Paris montage they played U2's "City of Blinding Lights" which is her favourite U2 song. That's saying alot...

Yes, Starfleet Marines with a Natalie Portman NCO is too random for dinner table conversation, but come on...Natalie Portman in Grey and Green!?! GREY AND GREEN! Those colours are excellent...

Sorry Matt, I have a life to life tomorrow night and I'll cover for you any other day...but I have tickets to Pirates for 7:30 today. I'll do my 10-4. You can do your 5-closing and we'll call it that. Consider that calling in one of my many favours you owe me. Not like we're keeping score kid.

Ooooer.

Oh and note: I don't believe that the Movie Rent isn't that bad. OBC Mimi is annoying and it's very hard...VERY hard to beat Rosario Dawson. In anything...ever. Well, maybe acting…Woo! Clerks II! Why can't Dante still be at a movie store? Fast Food? Pishaw...

Done? Done...I should go put the Lego box away and not try to make an F203ish fighter....
