The Life One Leads

Bonnie from Starbucks next door walks into work and wonders, "I thought you had the day off?!"

I answered "me too!"

Brother Mark feels guilty for calling me in on my day off, but like I told him...it's not his fault. It is the fault of the universe...and the Sarge for somehow not scheduling a second closer. So we have to contend with our second round of trainees running about with the sarge and countless people coming in to rent "What Happens in Vegas" on a rainy day. Yeah, it was fairly constant during the night, but with enough willpower and a handy copy of Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium on the Tv...I can do anything.

Just a record, the second best Natalie Portman outfit in that movie is the black evening dress. The first is Rainbow longsleeves. Awwww.

She's socially conscience, a vegetarian, intelligent, well spoken, obscenely attractive and humble.

New shirts kicked in today. Despite being very comfortable and stylish, I won't be used to the black since we all seem to blend in to our surroundings. At least we still get to wear longsleeves when the weather dictates it.

So...I'm three courses away from finishing my Associates degree. Really, I'm 9 credits over my AA...but I'm missing 9 of the required credits. I need any first year Philo course, Level 2 Crim Stats and ...Canadian Administrative Justice...whatever the hell that means.

I guess I should have seen those Kwat people sooner...apparently my GPA was so good before those two bad semesters, I'm still at good academic standing.

Angela is back in town for a few days before she heads back to UVic. She came into work just before we closed and Brother Mark gave her the single most aggressive hug I have ever seen Brother Mark give. They almost broke the light box!

Done? Done. I have to slug through a 5 hour cover shift today and tomorrow. Then I get Friday off.

Yay. Maybe, just maybe. I'll see Staci tomorrow.

"It's the exact same relationship Hugh Laurie and Jennifer Morrison have on TV...."

"...House is Superman?"

I think that was a couple of nights ago, but whenever Mark and I watched Superman Returns instore we keep bringing up Brian Singer wanted Hugh Laurie as Perry White since Singer produces House....And really, Jennifer Morrison could have done Lois Lane with very little effort. It's not that big a stretch that she could have auditioned for the role...

Apparently Mark meant it was a Boss/Employee relationship. I, of course, side with the absent Dani in the Cameron/House relationship while simultaneously backing the Staci supported House/Wilson idea.

I know one day I'll have to choose one of them.

And I'll leave that as ambiguous as possible.

I'm trying to block out "yesterday" since it was a rainy summer Sunday with an lop sided DlK. Also I had an odd experience with a guy from high school trying to set into some financial based pyramid scheme. I had a feeling it was something like that when he called Friday afternoon asking to set up a time to meet. This was the second phone call I received asking to meet. I sucked it up and faced it down to avoid phone calls in the future. I try not to run from ALL my problems...just academic*, psychological** and interpersonal*** ones....

See, I have no problem when someone asked "When" a movie is coming out. Since this implies they know it not out but simply wonder when they can get it.... However, "Where" is a question I cannot abide.

Where is The Strangers? (October 21st)
Where is Madagascar 2? (Not even in theatres, Nov 7)
Where is Kung Fu Panda?(I don't even know)

That implies they assume it's out and wonder where the non existence copy is located. It upsets my calm greatly.

The only highlights were the fact I managed to wear a sweater/collared shirt/tie/Longcoat combo today and Staci came to work soaking wet in her brown longcoat with purple trim. I try to take pleasure in the tiniest things....and oddly enough Staci gets....affectionate?(it's the word Mark used) when she gets a real breakfast in her. She kept trying to sneak up behind me at work Friday night....

Hey, it's my musical hero's birthday today! Let's Listen to the "Radio, Radio" while "Watching the Detectives."...I don't mean the Cillian Murphy movie....which was ok. Again, just like "The Baker" only good for a single watch.

Done? Done...fuck it.

-Cleric

*Hey, I'm dealing with that Tuesday.
**Running is the wrong word, but it flows well
***Not so much running as...avoiding having an interpersonal life. I just obsess and torture myself with the absent and/or unobtainable girls. It's alot cheaper than dating.

Three Day Weekend lead by the A Team: Mark, Staci and Me. Everyone else is lacking or opening. Really, the Sarge can't be in the thick of things if he's gone by 2. Really, with Scott and Brett on vacation and everyone else quitting and useless....The three of us are all that left.

Needless to say...The A Team can get the work done...

I had to come in three hours early since someone couldn't stay for his full shift. He just got back for a three hour vacation and he didn't know he worked today. That's inexcusable. Of course, I expect way too much from people, since I myself show up an hour early to do the garbage when no one else will.

John Sheppard sleeps in a Panda shirt. Thanks "The Shrine." Thank you Staci. I think that made the rest of my life...minus the fact the show is canceled and Nicole deBoer has yet to appear. That's next week, episode 7....I don't know if I'll be home for that. Currently now looking for that Panda shirt.

I'm back in at 11:30 Sunday. Close Monday. Tuesday off. Work Wenesday. I haven't looked past wenesday. Well, I haven't looked past Tuesday in that I know I'm working Wenesday...

Real Life will kick in soon...though at this point I can't remember if I count academics as real life or work as real life....at one point or another, it's been one or the other. At some point, either has made very little sense and deemed secondary to real life.

Done? Done...Sleeeeeep.

24.8.08 09:45

It's a toss up which sucks more at this point: Either the Saturday DlK or the Friday 4-12:15 CSR Close. At least I can say at this point neither are as bad as poor Staci who has to work 9 days in a row just because she wanted to see her sister on Wednesday....That...and I think Scott is on vacation. She can look on the bright side...in reality...when most of them are weekday open shift going into September....it's not that bad. Still I feel for her(Like I do most of the time) and it seems we're on mutiny's doorstep.

Victoria Lamb is not an 'Eavy Metal Team member, however two of her models have appeared on official GW works such as the Witch Hunters Codex...but this is a work of art...It's 40k...and it's Natalie Portman...in a Longcoat with shaved head. (Sigh).

I wouldn't mind having her as my second elite choice inquisitor...for the record, I will eventually get one of the female inquisitor models.

It'll take some time, but Brother Mark and I want to paint like her.

Well, I haven't shown Brother Mark, but simply based on my excitement telling the story...he wants to paint like that.

"They're going to have to glue you back together...In Hell!"
"I'm Kind of a big deal..."
"My Blood! He punched out all my blood!"
"You call that breakin' my spine!"

According to Pyro, those are four good reason for me to get back in TF 2.

Brother Mark with his Mighty Supermarines and Grey Knight shall have the most holy of all the Emperor's vehicles. Staci and I declare it to be true! Still, despite what Brother Mark says members of the Inquisition can use a Land Raider....he did say once that the Emperor did say only Space Marines can travel in one.....nope...my Inquisitor and his 5 man Retinue can ride tall and carry a big gun...twin linked Lascannons.

And as I've said in the past...be polite, be efficient and have a plan to kill everyone. Before it was "everyone you meet" but these days it never seems to matter who....

Mark and I watched Attack of the Clones in store today. I just kept imagining one headline in the Province:

"Local Movie Geek Headbutts Local Star"

I'm talking to you Hayden!

Ok, I'm done.

23.8.08 10:24

I thought about writing something, but all the crazy glue, plastic glue and the dust from the model sand is getting to me. Oh, and inhaling the spray primer can't be a good idea either.

Work? Heck, the day was a blur because I pretty much woke up at 11:10 for a 11:30 shift. Still made it there at 11:20 coffee in hand. Of course you have to make a terrible calculus and a shower had to be sacrificed. If it wasn't the first day back with washed clothes I would have thought different of it. I managed to run home on my break for a shower and believe me nothing on this earth is better than having a caffeined shower then going back to work, you feel like a whole new person. Other things that rank close (in no real order) are:

1. Drinking coffee (Good coffee) in a suit
2. Breaks with Staci(whether or not they're mine or hers)
3. The "Smell" of Warhammer. I don't really know what that is, but Pyro can call it too...something about plastics, primer and plastic glue that permeates my upstairs and a G-W.

Maybe Staci should have been number three since it would have made a way better segway to what I'm going into next....I'm not going to change it, I just want to establish a forced segway.

Remember how I said a couple entries ago Brother Mark and I cannot live up to her expectations? Well, turns out...we still can't...but at least she's not purposely mean about it. She apologized for being...I think "snippy" was the word she used...it was something to do with Grace being Gone and wasn't directed at myself and Brother Mark. Come to think of it, both times she's apologized for being snippy had to do with Grace. At least we don't have to worry about her anyway. She was great; the only problem with Grace is she only wanted to work when she wanted to work.

I can't believe we've had a 75% turnover rate in less than three months. Maybe I've been immune to seeing it before since, for the most of it...we've been a fairly tight knit group.

Other Staci moments of the week:

1. We must get other Stargate Atlantis fans to send in crates of fake plastic lemons to protest the show's cancellation. We figure if it worked with those Jericho morons and their peanuts, it'll work for us. Other ideas were sending boxes of fake vampire teeth candy to represent the Wraith...that was Staci and it was stretching it a little. I wondered if there was blue bug candy.

2. I have to say for those 3 or 4 hours we shared a shift today it was fun. I find it hard to say that I have fun at work these days since I'm bluer than Amy Acker in "Shells" most of the time....That joke used to be funny, I swear.

3. I shared her break today over coffee and Subway. The conversation was predictably meaningless, but really...who do I have meaningful conversations with anyway? No one. I just comment on her hair, her teeth (Since she can't physically close her mouth...and I mean that in the best way possible) and whatever TV we're both currently watching. I might have brought up "Keen Eddie" since Brother Mark and I watched it a while ago simply because Mark Valley IS Captain America. Come on, the man went to West Point and served in the Gulf!

Give him a buzz cut, a shield and let him hang out with Robert Downy Jr. and Edward Norton. Booom! Avengers movie!

Oh, and Sienna Miller. We don't really care what she does anymore....Who is the Baroness anyway?

Ok, that got off track...either way...despite everything...I like spending time with Staci.

And...Come to think of it...Why do I have such a problem with women when two of my best friends are women! You'd assume I'd be able to convert any of that knowledge into something useful. Nope. Speaking of Saint…she should have made contact….hmmmm.

Demolisher Tank came out great. I've left out all the long fragile Comms units of all my other tanks so I just stick the Demo in the top of the case turret and all...it's a real pain having to separate the turret from the hull every time I want to move it about....

So that's the fifth Leman Russ chassis vehicle I've put together. I treaded the thing in one night while watching Back to the Future III. I get faster and more accurate every time. I can see myself doing another Chimera soon for my Inquisitor and his Retinue...maybe get some Hellhound Armor for the turret (I don't even know if they're separate pieces)....I have to start learning how to do Rhinos since that's what my Sisters of Battle/Inquisitional Stormtroopers will be riding in. That and the Immolator is based on the Rhino chassis. I have a single Sister of Battle drying out in the garage for test purposes. I'm going with an "Our Order of the Martyred Lady" Paint job with Brass Bolters since I'm against completely bolt gun bolters....what type of gun nut would I be?

Done? Done. I have to pull my contacts and get some sleep. I close tonight with Brother Mark at quarter after four.

And...just a note...there is something a little odd that Deb and Steve of the Weepies got married and had a kid...I mean, you knew it was going to happen...but even I'm against that much of a cliché. Still, good luck to them...now it's just Steven and Debra Tannen....but Deb Talan was close enough as it was.

....-Cleric.

22.8.08 09:40

5th Edition Warhammer 40000 Rule Book

4th Edition Imperial Guard Codex
4th Edition City Fight Expansion Codex
4th Edition Witch Hunters Codex

I have to admit, adding Inquisitor Lords and Sisters of Battle to Leman Russ Demolisher Tanks and Sentinel Walkers is a hoot.

Henchmen four pack is on order. I just need to add a dedicated Inquisition Chimera and actual Inquisitional Stormtroopers.  This will be way later on down the road since with my current forces I can field a number of awesome combination with either the Guard assisting an Inquisitor or The Inquisitor assisting a Guard Unit. The Witch Hunters are a character driven unit where every single model in the army has a story...unlike the Guard where it's "Meatshield 1 through 9."

The only guard with any character are The Last Chancers....and those guys(and that one girl) are pretty awesome despite always been outnumbered(Guard? Really?!) and outgunned.

Mum's birthday certificates went towards a demolisher, a squad of battle sisters, 2 walkers and a 4 pack of henchmen...well, that's what mum got me and a little more.

Clone Wars? Well, it was going great until the (sigh) whiny animated Natalie Portman showed up. Come on, it even had her little cute mole on the left side of her cheek near her ear. And my God...it didn't even have a scrawl! It had a bad B Movie narrator reading a scrawl! What kind of Star Wars movie do you think this is George?

The Clone Troopers were the best part of the whole thing. Captain Rex and Commander Cody. Rex was probably in the original cartoon since I never saw another Special Forces Clone Captain(With the blue armor trim) carry two blaster pistols. Commander Cody was already awesome until the end of Sith...but everything sucked at the end of Sith...even (sigh) Natalie Portman.

Verdict? Wait until DVD and make sure you see the actually Clone Wars cartoon by the animated genius Genndy Tartakovsky. I might have to watch Closer or Garden State to clear my pallet.

Speaking of short hair girls apparently it's near impossible for Brother Mark and I to live up to Staci's expectations. Well, that's not true...I did my job just fine. It's not my responsibility to check the emails for POP amendments...whatever that means. She still manages to drive me crazy in both a positive and negative way at the same time. I'm going to leave it at that.

Today is day two of my two concurrent days off. I need new jeans and possibly a single new sweater option. Pyro wants new shoes and he wants to see Pineapple Express...which Saint saw a couple days ago with Shawna, but Saint will drop by later in the day. Probably...Maybe...well, that's what she said....and it's likely she'll show up on a day when she said she'd show up...kinda.

I have to admit some days are worse that others. It's not about work, nor Staci or the countless other things I should be worrying about...just somedays I am not ok. Some days I am.

But Grace is Gone. It's suppose to be a great John Cusak movie, but it also means I'm going to working twice as hard. We're suppose to be getting two new guys in the next week or so..., well...an old guy and a new guy...but that's still two people that can work when I can't...which should be often since I'm losing my edge because I don't care anymore....yet I do care...due to my misguided/misplaced sense of honor and duty....

Oh...Lunch with the Aunts wasn't that bad. Even Pyro was surprised. What surprised me what I was thumbing through a knitting book she had and sort of getting turn on by all the pretty girls(only girls in the book) in pretty scarves, hats and fingerless gloves. I think I have to get my winter clothing fetish looked into...but if you think about it...Scarf sex sounds pretty cool.

Done? done...Done. I've been up for way too long.

20.8.08 11:40

13 Natalie Portman Wallpapers including the "Big Picture" of Natalie Portman from the V for Vendetta London Press Conference where she is "picking her nose." Kate Beckinsale comes in second. I'm not even counting that zip drive I have full of just random actress pictures. That has far more random pictures...a large percentage of them I have no idea who they are....they're just pretty.

I don't know why I had to bring that up.

Brother Mark and I had a fantastic close carrying on the energy from last night's close into this one. Since we're abiding by the new sales model we can efficiently manage our time and get everything done. I enjoy this on mondays since we have a lot things to get done AND we don't get an upset Staci who has to deal with the fact we didn't get all the things done when she arrives in the morning. A Staci in the Morning is already a grumpy Staci. Brother Mark agree that anything that will make Staci happy is a good thing. One of those things being  Dexter season 2. I would have probably been disowned by the extended family if I didn't get that.

Clone Wars later today with Brother Mark(and hey, Maybe Staci since she's off at 5 or something) and Pineapple Express with Pyro...and Saint(If she gets back to me) on Wenesday.

Yeah, I'm done.

19.8.08 09:43

Yep. Saturday was a good day off. Oddly enough it technically started at work as Staci had been dropped off way too early for her shift so she text me and wondered if I wanted to hang out with her for a while and get my morning coffee. I went into work for a moment to see Brother Mark since I haven't seen him in a while. We're closing both today and tomorrow then we'll hang out Tuesday...probably.

I like any excuse to wear a suit, so needless to say, a cousin's wedding is top of that list of excuses since it combines a suit, family and partying, despite the fact I'm not that much of a reviler. Nope. Getting Pyro in to his suit took 20 minutes, it does take a village to raise him. Even better, I like wearing a suit and drinking coffee...

Bah, I'm making so sense right now but I feel like I have alot to say about the wedding since it marked the fact an "older" cousin in the family has gotten married thereby breaking "The Curse" that was established years ago. So it's gone from the older cousins never marrying to the older cousins always marrying after their younger sibling. You don't have to get it, but each sister in the family(that includes my mum) has had two kids with myself and Pyro being second last in that order.

I should start getting +1 status to these things only so I can bring Saint and someone to talk to besides Pryo since he's no fun. Saint also manages to liven up a party wherever she goes. I'll see if she wants to see "Pineapple Express" out at Metro on Wednesday.

The Westin Bayshore has a Starbucks in the lobby...while it may appear like a real Starbucks, I have an odd feeling it's an annex since they didn't honour the rewards program thing I'm on.

Done? Done. I'm tired and I have to go to work soon.
